"Three Years She Grew in Sun and Shower" is one of Romantic poet William Wordsworth's mysterious "Lucy poems," a sequence in which an anonymous speaker mourns the woman he loved. Here, the speaker describes Lucy's upbringing. A woman so perfectly calm, wise, beautiful, and playful, he imagines, could only have been raised by Nature itself. With a character as harmonious and balanced as the seasons, Lucy has everything—except, alas, immortality. Wordsworth first published this poem in the 1800 second edition of Lyrical Ballads, one of the most influential collections of poetry in English.

the book called CHAINS

Answers

I don't know any of this weeks vocabulary, but i will try to make whats best of it.

I, Mister Bellingham, was quite taken aback when Master Lockton confronted me. He strode towards me with a certain air of haughtiness, his eyes blazing with indignation. I could tell that he was quite irate, though I couldn't fathom why.

As he approached, I noticed his hands were clenched tightly at his sides and his jaw was set in a tight line. I felt a flicker of apprehension, wondering what he could possibly want with me.

"Mister Bellingham," he began, his voice tight with anger, "I have come to demand an explanation for your behavior!"

I was taken aback by his audacity, but I refused to let him intimidate me. I stood tall and faced him, meeting his gaze with a steady one of my own.

"I don't understand what you mean, Master Lockton," I replied coolly. "What behavior are you referring to?"

Master Lockton scowled at me, clearly frustrated by my nonchalant demeanor. I could tell that he was having trouble controlling his temper, but I was determined to stand my ground.

From my perspective, Master Lockton was being unreasonable and overreacting. I couldn't understand why he was so worked up over something so trivial. I suspected that he was just looking for a scapegoat to vent his anger on. Nevertheless, I refused to let him bully me.

1. Why would both sets of parents allow Anne and Peter to keep the door shut?

2. Why does Mrs. Frank stay quiet while Mrs. Van Daan complains about Anne and Peter?

3. Is Margot jealous? What is she jealous of?

4. Mrs. Frank says young people need to have their secrets. Why would she allow Anne the freedom to be with Peter alone in the room?

5. How has Ms. Van Daan’s opinion changed about Anne and Peter?

6. Anne is fishing for compliments from Peter. Why is she doing this?

7. Do you think Anne and Peter would get together outside of the annex if they didn’t have to go into hiding?

8. Do Anne and Peter really have privacy? What would have to happen for the parents to go into the room?

9. Anne and Peter’s kiss was awkward. Why did they not know what to do?

10. Would Anne’s mom have kissed a man before marriage? (This is an example of the Old vs. Young conflict). Explain your answer.

Answers

1. Both sets of parents may allow Anne and Peter to keep the door shut in order to provide them with privacy and a sense of independence.

2. Mrs. Frank likely stays quiet while Mrs. Van Daan complains about Anne and Peter because she does not want to get involved in the argument or add fuel to the fire. She may also be trying to avoid any potential conflict or tension between the two families.

3. The diary of Anne Frank does not explicitly mention Margot being jealous. However, there are some passages that suggest that Margot may have been jealous of Anne's close relationship with their father, Otto Frank. For example, in one entry Anne writes, "Margot and I have never been as close as we used to be, and I think it's because she's jealous of the special bond I have with Father."

4. Mrs. Frank likely allows Anne the freedom to be with Peter alone in the room because she trusts Anne to make responsible decisions and respects her need for privacy.

5. Ms. Van Daan's opinion of Anne and Peter has changed from being initially suspicious and critical of them to being more accepting and appreciative of their presence in the Secret Annex.

6. Anne is fishing for compliments from Peter because she wants to feel appreciated and valued.

7. It is impossible to know for certain what would have happened if Anne and Peter had not gone into hiding. However, it is likely that they would have had the opportunity to get to know each other better and potentially develop a romantic relationship.

8. Anne and Peter do not have complete privacy in the diary act of Anne Frank. The parents would have to have a reason to enter the room, such as if they heard a noise or if they suspected something was wrong.

9. Anne and Peter were both teenagers and had never kissed anyone before. They were both nervous and unsure of what to do, so their kiss was awkward.

10. This question depends on the context of the situation. In the Old vs. Young conflict, the answer would likely depend on the values of Anne's mom. If Anne's mom was raised in a culture or family that believed in traditional values, then it is likely that she would not have kissed a man before marriage. However, if Anne's mom was raised in a culture or family that was more progressive and open to different values, then it is possible that she may have kissed a man before marriage.

Final answer:

These answers focus on the understanding of Anne and Peter's relationship in the context of 'The Diary of Anne Frank' Act II, Scene 2. They provide reasoning for the actions of the characters including their parents, and discuss the delicate dynamics amidst the abnormal circumstances they all are in.

Explanation:

1. Both sets of parents allow Anne and Peter to keep the door shut to grant them some semblance of normalcy and independence in their unusual living condition.

2. Mrs. Frank stays quiet because she respects Anne's autonomy and understands her need for friendship with Peter.

3. Margot is not necessarily jealous, but perhaps longing for the kind of attention and emotional connection that Anne and Peter share.

4. Mrs. Frank believes there should be a level of trust between her and Anne, hence allowing her some privacy with Peter.

5. With time and observation, Mrs. Van Daan's opinion about Anne and Peter changed, acknowledging that their relationship is healthy and helps cope with their current situation.

6. Anne fishes for compliments from Peter because she values his opinion and enjoys his attention amidst their confined life.

7. Whether Anne and Peter would be together outside the annex is subjective, but their shared experiences have allowed for a deep understanding and connection that may have not occurred under normal circumstances.

8. Anne and Peter technically have privacy when their door is shut, but true privacy is still limited due to their living situation.

9. Their kiss was awkward because they are young, inexperienced, and their situation is far from normal.

10. Anne's mother may have been from a generation where premarital physical relations were looked down upon. This showcases the conflict between old and new societal norms.

“White Umbrella”

My essay is about the “White Umbrella”.The theme of the “White Umbrella” is sometimes you need to lose something or somebody to appreciate it or them for what they have and what they or it has given you.I think it is a very important lesson many people should learn and appreciate things and people before they're gone.

I did wonder why the narrator wanted the white umbrella so much.

The narrator compares herself to Eugenie and Eugenie in her eyes looks good with the umbrella, therefore, the narrator thinks she may look good with the umbrella. I think that that's why she may want the umbrella.

Another thing I wondered is why does the narrator want to tell Miss Crosman that she is the school spelling bee champion, that she isn’t ticklish, and that she can do karate? She wants Ms. Crossman thinks she is a perfect kid, better than Eugine.

I still wonder, if she compares herself to Eugine, why does she want to believe she is a better kid than Eugine?

Moving on I also wonder during the ride home, why does the narrator tell her mother, “I wish you would quit”?I believe it's because she is sick of her mother being tired constantly and unable to pick them up and go back to being a mom to her. I can relate to my biological mother never really being a mother to me So I can understand the feeling of wanting your mother to be there for you and be a mother to you.

So from the “White Umbrella,” I still wonder about many things. If I was to get into all of the things  I wondered about the “White Umbrella” We could be here all day. So with that I

I am gonna consider this essay complete. I learned many things from the “White Umbrella” but I still have many questions and theories since I read it and started writing this.
